The concert promises to be a truly spectacular event and we are delighted to welcome back to the festival the most successful British soprano of her generation – Amanda Roocroft and also a British opera star of immense international renown, the tenor Paul Charles-Clarke.

Two ensembles feature in the programme. The Tippett Quartet is one of the most dynamic young string quartets in Europe and the hugely energetic London Tango Quintet also return to the festival this year following their sell out 2008 festival recital. Young Serbian accordionist Milos Milivojevic stunned audiences with his incredible virtuosity last year so don’t miss his performance this year. Festival regulars Craig Ogden and Claire Bradshaw will also make an appearance and we are thrilled to have as our pianist for the evening, Ingrid Surgenor – one of the most sought after repetiteurs in the UK who makes a trip up from Glyndebourne Opera to join us for the evening. Rising young star and multi-prize winning, 16 year old violinist Therese de Souza completes the classical artist list.

The picnic will be accompanied by a world-class gypsy jazz quartet led by locally based musical legend, Bill Lovelady. He is joined by the Russian violinist Oleg Ponomarev whose past collaborators include Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuhin. Rhythm guitarist Dave Kelbie and double-bassist Jerome Davies complete the quartet.
